1) Refinery Oily Sludge Treatment – Oil refining operations typically produce large volume of oily process water. Oily wastewater treatment process generates substantial oily sludge, a mixture of sediment, oil and water. Current US EPA guidelines prevents land disposal of the refinery sludge unless they meet the Universal Treatment Standard (UTS) as mandated under the final Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) guidelines. RLCT’s ATDU systems are currently in operation at several major refineries in North America and the Caribbean. . The level of hydrocarbons in the solids discharged from the ATDU can meet stringent UTS standards and in certain

scenarios can offer the refinery operators a unique opportunity to qualify and receive RCRA delisting status for a particular waste stream. Delisted wastes typically offer certain economic and regulatory flexibility for the refinery owners.

2) Drill Cuttings Processing -- RLCT has successfully supplied customers in the North Atlantic and the Middle East regions with specialty designed ATDU systems complete with feed, vapor recovery and water treatment systems for thermal processing of drill cuttings from on- and offshore oil and gas exploration platforms. RLCT’s ATDU systems are custom designed to meet required clean up criteria to meet our customers’ demands globally. To-date thermal desorption remains the only technology currently available that can effectively remove

the mineral and synthetic based oils from cuttings. ATDU process offers a permanent solution for cuttings remediation when compared to land farming, stabilization, and reinjection.

3) Soil Remediation - The Company’s ATDU system has been utilized for remediation and removal of contaminants from wet clay soil at Superfund sites in the U.S. Partial list of contaminants removed by applying ATDU include PCBs, cPAHs and a wide range of chlorinated solvents. ATDU has demonstrated and achieved PCBs clean up levels at less than 2 mg/kg and has successfully lowered total cPAHs to less than 20 mg/kg. ATDU’s unique soil processing system where the contaminants are volatilized in an oxygen deficient atmosphere virtually eliminates the potential for

generation of dioxins and furans when compared to traditional direct fired thermal treatment systems including incineration. RLCT’s anaerobic thermal desorption features is a key factor in obtaining permits for on-site projects in populated areas. Due to ATDU’s inherently small process gas flow rates; substantially smaller air pollution control system is needed when compared to traditional thermal treatment plants. This feature results in lower energy consumption rate and reduced noise generation due to smaller fan size.
